Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Manager - Transportation & Public Works to lead daily operations of the Public Works Maintenance Crews, develop and monitor budgets, schedules, and performance standards. You will coordinate with the Superintendent to set goals and supervise staff, ensure safety, and deliver quality public services for the city.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or construction management.
• Four years of experience in the construction, maintenance and/or repair of street, roadway, bridge, or storm drainage structures.
• Equivalencies allow alternative qualifications with adjusted experience requirements as listed in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Manages activities of staff and daily operations of the Public Works Street Maintenance and related activities; delegates tasks to subordinates and updates schedules and standards.
• Works with Superintendent to set short-, mid-, and long-term goals; approves schedules and analyzes productivity reports.
• Inspects and evaluates work for quality and safety; provides training and ensures permits, materials and equipment are used correctly.
• Analyzes production goals; oversees budget, planning and development of special projects or facilities.
• Supports hiring processes; participates in job fairs and interviews; evaluates staff and enforces disciplinary measures.
