Job Summary

ThePublic Works Technician plays a crucial role that serves the public in multiple areas and disciplines. Public Works Technician must maintain the physical and mental capacity to fulfill the requirements of their position in a safe and efficient manner. The Public Works Technician works outdoors, and not in an office environment.

Duties – General

• Maintain equipment as necessary to safeguard equipment and promote efficient safe operation.
• Maintain City of Lake Park cemetery properties to include cutting grass, trim weeds, litter and debris removal, trimming trees, coordinating funeral homes for assisting with internments, location of cemetery plots, and assist with updating and maintaining administrative records.
• Inspect Civic Center after rentals/utilization in accordance with publish checklist.
• Janitorial duties for City of Lake Park properties via Work Order assignment.
• Facilitate and complete Work Orders assignment.
• Locate services in accordance with 811 protocols.
• Participating member of Emergency Response for City of Lake Park.
• General support for City of Lake Park community events.
• Supervise Community Service workers.
• Repair and maintenance for small non‑contracted services for City of Lake Park properties.

Duties – Streets and Roads

• Cut grass on City of Lake Park properties, medians, and right‑of‑way areas.
• Trim weeds and edge City of Lake Park properties, medians, and right‑of‑way areas.
• Pest and weed control of City of Lake Park properties, median, and right‑of‑way areas.
• Litter pickup of City of Lake Park properties, medians, and right‑of‑way areas.
• Maintain landscaping on City of Lake Park properties, medians, and right‑of‑way areas.
• Remove obstacles in roads, streets, and right‑of‑way areas.
• Street repairs.
• Installation and maintenance of road and street signs.
• Installation and maintenance of speed humps.
• Installation and maintenance of barricades as needed for road repair or by Work Order assignment.

Duties – Public Utilities

• Read meters for utilization by utility customers.
• Water sample testing.
• Connect/Disconnect customer utility service via Work Order process.
• Flush fire hydrants in accordance with published schedules.
• Repair water leaks, line breakages and replace meters as necessary for operation of utility.
