Qualifications

• Associate of Applied Science in Water or related field with seven years relevant experience and three years supervisory in a municipality.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; able to operate computers for records and reporting.
• Extensive knowledge of materials, methods, and Federal/State guidelines for water/wastewater and street operations.
• Knowledge of supervision principles and personnel practices.
• Ability to operate a wide range of tools and equipment and coordinate complex field work.
• Ability to perform process control calculations and communicate effectively.

Job description

The City of Stayton is seeking an experienced and hands-on Public Works Supervisor - Utilities to help lead the operation and maintenance of the City's water distribution system, streets, parks, and municipal facilities. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to plan projects, coordinate staff and contractors, and respond effectively to operational needs and emergencies. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys working alongside their team, solving problems, and helping ensure essential City services remain safe, reliable, and responsive to the community.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Required Education / Experience:

1. Associate of Applied Science in Water or related field and seven years related experience with three years of supervisory experience in a municipality public works department or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above duties.
2. Working knowledge of fiscal management, expenditure control, and recordkeeping.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Skilled in computer operations and proficiency in word processing; spreadsheets, databases, electronic communications. Ability to utilize a computer for recordkeeping, reports, and operation of maintenance programs.
4. Extensive knowledge of the materials, methods, techniques, and Federal and State guidelines used in operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities, water distribution systems, streets, and occupational hazards and safety precautions.
5. Knowledge of principles of supervision and personnel practices.
6. Skill in operation of tools and equipment including a motor vehicle, backhoe, dump truck, generators, pumps, gauges, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, telephone, computer, calculator, a variety of lab equipment, and other related equipment.
7. Ability to perform process control calculations, work safely, communicate effectively verbally and in writing in order to establish effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public, must have the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions to coordinate, schedule, and direct the work of subordinate technicians.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:

1. Possession of valid driver's license.
2. Level I Water Treatment and Level II Water Distribution Certification
3. WorkZone Traffic Control Certificate
