The City of Wylie has an immediate opening for a Public Works Supervisor for the Stormwater division. The selected applicant will supervise, direct, and manage the daily functions of the Stormwater division. They will also perform skilled and supervisory work, including maintenance and repair of City facilities based on assigned division.

Supervision:

Supervision is provided by the manager or designee based on the assigned division.

When assigned to Stormwater:

  • Supervises Stormwater activities and team members, when assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with Texas and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES/NPDES) and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) regulations.
  • Develops, implements, coordinates, and administers stormwater programs, procedures, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Coordinates and participates in public education and outreach events, presenting stormwater quality materials.
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs stormwater drainage systems, including culverts, inlets, channels, and basins.
  • Assists with inspections of stormwater structures, detention ponds, creeks, and ditches.
  • May participate in Streets division activities like roadway repair and drainage maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License within 60 days of hire.
  • Must maintain required certifications/licenses, including NIMS training.

Specific Experience and Certifications:

  • Five years of hands-on experience with stormwater systems.
  • Ability to obtain within one year: Class A CDL, NPDES Stormwater Inspector, Backhoe Certification, Vector Mosquito License, Confined Space Certification.

Physical and Work Environment:

Ability to exert 50-100+ pounds, work in all weather conditions, and perform various physical activities including lifting, pushing, pulling, and operating vehicles. Work primarily outdoors with occasional call-outs. Exposure to biological, mechanical, electrical hazards, and chemicals with proper safety precautions.
