Job summary

The City of Richfield is hiring a Public Works Worker, primarily assigned to Street/Forestry Maintenance. You will perform tasks across street, park, and utility divisions, with a 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

schedule and potential extended hours. The starting salary is $31.26/hour plus benefits under the Local 49 AFL-CIO Agreement for 2026. Responsibilities include asphalt and concrete maintenance, snow removal, tree care, signs and streetlight upkeep, and irrigation system work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class D driver’s license required.
• Must meet Federal DOT regulations and have a satisfactory driving record.
• Within one year, obtain Class A CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement.
• Possession of MN Pesticides Applicator’s license or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs and maintains streets, parking lots and sidewalks using equipment and hand tools.
• Performs snow/ice removal from streets, parking lots, sidewalks and trails.
• Performs general tree maintenance such as planting, trimming, stump removal, and removal of diseased trees on public property.
• Installs, repairs and maintains traffic signs, signals and streetlights.
• Prepares site, grades, places and compacts fill and base materials and bituminous service materials.
• Places, pours and finishes concrete service materials.
• Sweeps and washes streets, parking lots, curbs and sidewalks.
