Job summary

Walla Walla County is seeking a Staff Accountant to support payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, budgetary reporting, billing and revenue receipts for the Public Works department under the Chief Finance Manager. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and at least four years of progressive accounting experience are required; a background check and driving record check will be performed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Background check and driving record check required; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Payroll processing and assistance with purchasing, accounts payable, and budgeting.
• Budgetary reporting, billing and revenue receipts responsibilities.
• Maintain inventory and accounts for department resources (real property, equipment, etc.).
• Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP and Washington BARS; work independently with sound judgment.
