City of Emeryville is seeking a seasoned civil engineer to organize, supervise, and coordinate engineering and construction programs within the Public Works Department. The role provides technical guidance and day-to-day direction to staff on design, construction, surveying, and traffic projects.

You will prepare plans, collaborate with consultants, manage multiple contracts, and ensure compliance with regulations while communicating outcomes to City leadership and boards.

Competenze

• Bachelor degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in design, construction, and traffic engineering.
• Knowledge of laws, codes and standards related to civil engineering and public works.
• Supervisory experience is desirable.

Mansioni

• Organizes, schedules, and coordinates engineering and construction functions within Public Works; provides technical guidance to staff.
• Assists in staff development through coaching, mentorship, and on-the-job training.
• Prepares plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Public Works projects and contracts.
• Manages multiple construction contracts including roads, utilities, and public facilities; coordinates with consultants and other departments.
• Develops grant applications and tracks grant compliance; supports budget development and expenditures.
