Short Description
Bowman has an opportunity for a Public Works Permit Technician II (PT) to join our team in Brea, CA.
Purpose
Assist in the review, intake, and processing of Public Works’ Encroachment permit applications. Liaise with the public and Utility Agencies and provide information regarding departmental policies and procedures pertaining to permits, plans submittal requirements, application procedures, plan check and permit fees, and plan check time frame and status.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in civil or similar engineering discipline preferred. Minimum of three years of office and customer service experience working directly with the public, and similar experience as a technician or related role. Ability to work independently and in a team, communicate effectively, and manage multiple tasks. Basic understanding of financial reports, data analysis, and interpretation skills. Ability to read and interpret construction documents and manuals.
Responsibilities
Review and process permit applications, determine and collect fees, route applications to appropriate departments, maintain files, provide public information, respond to inquiries, enter invoices, support public meetings, operate office equipment, maintain supplies, build positive relationships, learn to read maps and blueprints, and perform related tasks including field inspections.
Physical Demands and Environment
Primarily indoor office environment, with occasional travel, lifting, reaching, and use of office equipment.
