Public Works - Part Time Maintenance Worker

COUNTY OF WARREN

PART-TIME MAINTENANCE WORKER

Warren County is seeking highly motivated and skilled candidates to fill the position of Part-Time Maintenance Worker.

This position is responsible for semiskilled work in a variety of parks, landscape and utilities construction, maintenance, and repair projects; occasionally operates non-specialized equipment in connection with manual tasks, and does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Preparing athletic fields, seeding, fertilizing, and aerating fields.
2. Planting grass, trees, and flowers.
3. Picking up paper and debris on public property, streets, and in park areas.
4. Performing other park maintenance duties, painting County buildings and facilities.
5. Operating dump trucks, mowers, chain saws, pumps, mixers, trimmers, tractors, and similar equipment.
6. Loading and unloading stone, gravel, dirt, and playground equipment.
7. Assisting with equipment maintenance and repair.
8. Performing custodial, building, and grounds maintenance work.
9. Assisting with snow removal and performing related tasks as required.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Possession of or ability to obtain herbicide applicator's certification within six months. Possession of or ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) within one year of employment.

The hourly rate is $16.60, depending on qualifications and experience.
