Operating a variety of contractor equipment and trucks used in construction, maintenance and repair activities associated with Giles County Public Works. Equipment operated include but not limited to: Backhoes, Skid Steers, Excavators as well as operating trucks of various sizes and weights. Position also requires using appropriate hand, power, specialty tools and outdoor power equipment such as chain saws, mowers, string trimmers, blowers, chippers, dump trucks, bucket trucks, etc. Other duties may include: assist with snow removal as needed. Individual will also be responsible for performing routine inspections, assisting with preventative maintenance and other duties as needed.
A high school diploma or equivalent as well as two to three years of heavy equipment experience; or equivalent combination of education and training related to the position.
A valid CDL driver’s license with appropriate class for assigned equipment.
Applicants will also be subject to a drug test and driving record review.
Typically, dayshift but may vary depending on work, position also requires being on call as needed.
This position requires the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing items weighing more than 75 lbs. and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under some temperature extremes.
