Qualifications

• Requires strong supervisory experience in public works or local government.
• Experience developing and managing a division budget.
• Ability to interpret complex policies and apply them to service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and coordinate a public works division for high-quality services.
• Set division goals and supervise staff to meet them.
• Oversee flood control, waste management, street and traffic work, equipment and landfill ops.
• Ensure efficient use of personnel and equipment across the division.
• Prioritize short- and long-range projects and coordinate implementation.
• Coordinate and administer the Solid Waste Management Committee.
• Develop and defend a comprehensive division budget with supporting data.
• Collaborate with engineers, agencies, developers and others.
• Recommend purchases of new and replacement equipment.
• Manage buildings and facilities under division control.
• Conduct special studies as required.
• Address citizens’ complaints and inquiries; administer personnel matters.
