Job summary

City of Garden City, Kansas is seeking a senior Public Works Director to oversee Streets, Traffic, Fleet, Solid Waste, Recycling, and HHW operations and to plan, direct, and manage capital improvements, budgeting, and standards across divisions.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Engineering, Environmental Management, or related field and at least five years of progressively responsible managerial experience with a public employer; a valid Kansas driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of Streets, Traffic, Fleet, Solid Waste, Recycling, and HHW divisions.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Plan.
• Plan, direct, and budget capital improvements and standards for Public Works divisions.
• Coordinate funding, planning, and implementation of short- and long-range projects.
• Collaborate with city officials, engineers, and the public to ensure service efficiency.
