Job summary

State of Louisiana DOTD is seeking Mobile Equipment Operators for East Baton Rouge Parish to support road and bridge maintenance with outdoor, physically demanding tasks. Training is provided and there are opportunities for career progression within DOTD.

No prior experience is required; licensing may be required (Louisiana Class D or CDL) depending on assignment. The role reports to the Highway Foreman 2 and offers premium pay plus a 10% base pay increase after permanent status where applicable.

Qualifications

• No experience or training is required.
• Valid Louisiana Class D Chauffeur’s License or CDL may be required prior to start date.
• Outdoor, physically active role with varying weather and shift conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and specialized equipment used in road and bridge maintenance
• Assist with construction, repair, and upkeep of highways and bridges
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
• Support traffic control, cleanup, and emergency response activities
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, loading materials, and using hand and power tools
• Assist or guide lower-level operators as needed
