Public Works Inspector III - Water/Wastewater Facilities

Ross Technical Services Inc. (RTS) Baltimore, Md. is looking for staff to join our ever-expanding team. We are seeking a Public Work Inspector III with a strong work ethic and experience in construction in the Baltimore/Washington area.

The Public Works Inspector III assigns, reviews, and gives work directions to subordinate inspectors engaged in the inspection of complex capital construction projects such as water and wastewater facilities, roadways, and other public works construction. The successful candidate will be able to apply comprehensive knowledge of disciplines to be used during construction, as well as the standard methods and techniques to be utilized. The candidate must become thoroughly familiar with required construction documents and technical aspects of each project.

This position involves leadership and acting as a resident inspector on a complex construction project. May include training new employees.

This position requires the ability to meet with contractors, city officials, public, and others to resolve problems in the field. The candidate must be able to lead field meetings.

Responsible for completing reports and monitoring project documentation. This is a career growth opportunity for the right individual.

Requirements:
  1. Solid inspection experience with the renovation or new construction of municipal water and wastewater facilities.
  2. Some electrical and mechanical experience a plus.
  3. Licensed operators please apply.
  4. CCM or CMIT also a plus.
  5. Minimum High School diploma or GED and five years’ experience in the construction inspection industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  6. Knowledge of City Construction Codes and Specifications.
  7. Knowledge of concrete and asphalt and excavation requirements.
  8. Ability to oversee materials testing as required.
  9. Willingness to learn everything about municipal construction inspection.
  10. If required, willing to work extended hours as necessary.
  11. Able to complete full-time observation of complex construction activities and clearly document all work and contractor’s conformance with the plans and specifications.
  12. Able to complete routine forms and reports and maintain project inspection logs.
  13. Can maintain a strong client relationship and a professional relationship with the contractor and the communities.
  14. Previous inspection experience working with public works agencies a plus.

Successful candidates’ pay range is $42.00 to $51.00 an hour, more can be available for professionally qualified candidates. RTS offers a Simple IRA retirement account with 3% matching funds, personal and annual leave, and a monthly stipend/reimbursement towards medical insurance costs.
