This is a non-exempt, full-time, classified position with full benefits. Inspector I: Range 23; $25.96-$38.94 per hour. Inspector II: Range 25; $28.62-$42.93 per hour.
Undergeneral supervision of the Project Manager, performs technical skilled work ininspecting roads, sidewalk, curb, gutter and grading and drainage constructionprojects. Will also inspect projects that are overseen by Engineers of Recordfor sub-division/private development projects within the service area. Performsother duties as assigned. Thisclassification requires agility and balance to use ladders for accessingexcavations, ability to negotiate uneven and steep terrain, must be able to bemobile in partially constructed foundations and other construction spaces,ability to enter and be mobile in confined spaces. Must be able to stand andwalk for extended periods of time. May occasionally need to move an objectweighing up to 75 pounds.
Highschool diploma or equivalent required. Two years of field experience in publicworks inspection and/or civil/municipal construction or two years of post-highschool education in a related field is desired. Certifications for theinspection of road and utility construction are desired. Applicant must haveknowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performancewith minimal supervision. NICET, ACI, ATTI and OSHA certification preferred.Possession of a valid Arizona driver’s license is required.
Thisposition is an underfill and has the ability to promote to Public WorksInspector II after two years of employment in the Public Works & UtilityInspector I position and meets or exceeds all criteria on the most recentannual evaluation.
Thisposition may require an employee to work overtime, nights holidays andweekends, depending on the needs of the projects.
