Job summary

North American Transportation Management Institute seeks a DPW Director in Michigan to lead the citys public works operations, capital projects, and long-term infrastructure planning. The role oversees streets, water/sewer, parks, cemeteries, and buildings, reporting to the City Administrator with a focus on regulatory compliance.

The Director will manage a diverse workforce, coordinate engineering/planning, ensure project updates, and support public events.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of public administration and municipal operations.
• Experience supervising full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff.
• Project management for infrastructure or utilities projects preferred.
• Working knowledge of EGLE, MDOT, OSHA, and cemetery operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead DPW staff and operations across streets, parks, water/sewer, stormwater, and cemeteries.
• Serve as Project Manager for municipal capital and infrastructure projects.
• Oversee cemetery operations and compliance with regulations.
• Ensure licensing, certifications, and staff development; manage budgets and procurement.
• Coordinate city-sponsored events and emergency response when needed.
