The Washtenaw County Road Commission seeks a Heavy Truck Driver to perform manual labor while operating light to heavy duty trucks and motorized equipment for road repair and maintenance.

Qualifications

• 1 year of labor-intensive experience involving machinery, tools or equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Michigan Class A CDL required.
• Must be able to provide 24-hour on-call services and respond within one hour.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy-duty dump trucks with snowplows, underbody blades, sand and salt spreaders and liquid applications.
• Performs manual labor; digs ditches; cleans and installs culverts; removes debris from roadway and shoulders.
• Directs traffic around hazards or crews; sets out temporary signs, cones and barricades.
• Hauls and dumps road materials and equipment; loads and transports asphalt, rock, dirt and culvert pipes.
• Operates chain saw and related equipment; conducts basic vehicle inspections and maintenance.
• Keeps vehicles clean and records materials, time and equipment used for projects.
