Job summary

Hendry County Government is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator I to operate highway maintenance equipment with a high degree of skill and safety awareness. The role involves loading and unloading at sites, performing routine maintenance, and assisting in repairs as needed.

Qualified candidates will have at least two years of highway construction equipment experience and a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement. Strong English communication and reliability are required.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in highway construction equipment operation.
• Must possess a Class B CDL or higher with air brake endorsement.
• Ability to perform minor emergency repairs and service on equipment.
• Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Operates transports carrying heavy equipment and supplies, loading/unloading at designated locations.
• Operates highway maintenance equipment (tractors, backhoes, power rollers, slope mowers).
• Performs light maintenance and servicing on equipment and requests major maintenance when required.
• Occasionally operates other mechanized equipment and performs related manual labor.
• Reports to work during declared local state of emergencies.
