Job summary

Fairfax County Government seeks a financial specialist to support the Wastewater Planning & Monitoring Division, handling audits, grant revenue reconciliation, and year-end financial reporting. The role requires accounting education and strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities include preparing complex adjustment entries, maintaining revenue reconciliations, and producing reports for the CAFR. The position operates across multiple county sites and offers extensive benefits through DPWES.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; GAAP knowledge preferred.
• Four years of increasingly complex administrative/technical experience may substitute for education.
• Experience with accounting entries, reconciliations, and revenue/expense analysis is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and respond to complex audits (external and internal).
• Reconcile grant revenue and follow up on invoices; reconcile PUBSAT to FOCUS postings.
• Prepare complex financial adjustments for ACFR and assist with year-end statements.
• Produce mid-level reports using spreadsheets/databases and support capacity analysis.
• Research accounts and determine billing adjustments per county codes and policies.
• Serve as liaison between accounts, customers, and county agencies on sewer service accounts.
