Now hiring for a Public Works Facilities & Landscape Technician. This employee will be responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled and manual labor tasks in the general maintenance of public buildings and facilities and the landscaping of grounds at public buildings, facilities, parks, and in rights-of-way. The landscape vegetation maintenance of State and municipal rights-of-way includes the planting, trimming, pruning, and spraying of flowerbeds and medians. Mowing and trimming of all public owned property may also be assigned.
The employee must have a Right–of-Way and Ornamental Spraying Certification within 12 months of employment and must have a CDL driver’s license within 12 months of employment. Please note that a CDL driver’s license and an Arborist Certification are preferred.
Employee must be able to do other public works related tasks as assigned by the Director of Public Works and Director of Operations. A high school education or the equivalent is required.
Starting salary is $34,942 to $36,689 depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include: Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Short-term Disability, Holiday/Vacation/Sick Pay, Local Government Retirement System, and NC401(k).

High school graduation or equivalent. Experience in landscaping and facility maintenance including equipment operations and trades work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid North Carolina Driver's License. Certified, or become certified, by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture in the spraying of public rights-of-way and private property.
