Job summary

City of Rowlett is seeking a Maintenance Worker with responsibilities in water, wastewater, street and drainage maintenance. The role involves operating a range of heavy equipment and assisting the Crew Leader with planning and scheduling maintenance activities.

You will respond to service requests, ensure safety at work sites per MUTCD, and train Junior staff as needed. A valid driver’s license and the potential for on-call hours are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED.
• Three (3) years of proven experience relating to construction, maintenance and repair of streets and drainage.
• One (1) of the three years of experience related to equipment operation.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance work on water, wastewater, streets and drainage systems.
• Operates equipment such as asphalt paver, rollers, asphalt reclaimer, tack machine, water truck, dump truck, backhoe, grader, track loader.
• Assists Crew Leader in planning, scheduling and implementing activities.
• Responds to complaints regarding asphalt, concrete and drainage repairs; informs residents when services will be interrupted.
• Assists in training Maintenance Specialist I and II to increase skills.
• Obtains locates for gas, telephone, power, cable TV, water, sewer lines and storm pipes prior to excavation.
• Maintains safe work sites and uses MUTCD guidelines.
