Job summary

The City of Ottumwa is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator for the Public Works Departments (Streets, Sewer, Traffic) who will operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment and perform related semi-skilled tasks.

Responsibilities include snow equipment operation during weather events, potential overtime, and ensuring safe operation. Valid Class A CDL and at least one year of heavy equipment experience are required; candidates must obtain CDL if not held within six months.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• Must have one year of experience in heavy equipment operation
• If not currently held, must obtain within six months of employment

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of equipment in construction, operation, repair and maintenance of City infrastructure
• Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks
• Operate snow equipment during weather events, with potential overtime on nights/weekends
