Job summary

City of Janesville is seeking an Engineering Technician I under the Assistant City Engineer to support public works projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and ESRI GIS. You will draft, inspect, and prepare plans, maps, and as-built drawings for streets, water, and utilities.

Responsibilities include field survey support, project documentation, and collaboration with city staff and the public. A two-year degree is required; a valid driver’s license is needed; prior field experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled technical support for civil engineer technician work in public works projects.
• Draft and update plans, diagrams, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and ESRI GIS.
• Inspect construction work for compliance with specs and regulations.
• Operate field survey equipment for topographic surveys and staking.
• Prepare reports, cost estimates, and project-related exhibits.
• Input as-built data into ESRI GIS and Civil 3D drawings.
