Job summary

The City of Chico is seeking a journey-level Civil Engineer to perform professional field and office engineering work related to planning, design, and maintenance of capital improvement projects and public works infrastructure.

The role involves coordinating with developers, contractors, and agencies, preparing plans and cost estimates, and acting as project manager on assigned projects. A CA driver’s license is required, with a CA PE registration preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Three years of professional civil engineering experience.
• CA Driver’s License required; CA Civil Engineer registration is preferred/required.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional engineering duties in support of capital improvement and land development projects.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for public works projects.
• Coordinate environmental review and plan checking for private development projects.
• Serve as project manager on engineering/construction projects.
