Job summary

The Village of Summit is seeking a DPW Crew Leader to supervise and train the DPW crew, ensuring safe and efficient operations across snow/ice control, road and right-of-way maintenance, cemetery and parks work, and facility upkeep.

Under the Public Works Director, you will plan, direct, and review daily assignments, enforce safety standards, and manage equipment use and records for the department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with no air brake restriction.
• Tanker (N) endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum five years in Public Works with supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, direct, and support DPW crew; perform daily on-site inspections for safety and efficiency.
• Delegate daily tasks across snow/ice control, road maintenance, cemetery and parks upkeep, and facilities work.
• Act as working foreman when workload requires and supervise equipment use.
• Oversee cemetery operations as Summit Cemetery Sexton and handle inquiries.
• Prepare reports on maintenance activities and maintain time/materials records.
