Job summary

The City of Sammamish is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead capital projects from concept through completion, delivering critical public works infrastructure. This hybrid role involves program management, grant administration, and collaboration with staff and external partners.

You’ll oversee roadways, bridges, drainage systems, and related projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while guiding project teams and communicating with the public and council.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or environmental engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Washington state.
• CESCL Certification and Confined Space Training (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide CIP project management from design to project closeout (roadways, bridges, intersections, sidewalks, drainage).
• Coordinate with consultants; write bid specs; negotiate with contractors.
• Represent the city in negotiations with businesses, contractors, and jurisdictions.
• Prepare grant applications and administer grant agreements for various projects.
• Respond to public questions on street, drainage, and development issues; document investigations.
