Job summary

The State of North Carolina's Department of Environmental Quality seeks an Engineer I (NS) in the Public Water Supply section of the Division of Water Resources to conduct field inspections and provide technical/regulatory support for drinking water systems.

You will review plans, assist with enforcement actions, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of drinking water regulations while working in a hybrid environment with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Engineer Intern certification is a plus.
• Ability to perform field inspections and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PWS field inspections, investigations, assessments, and audits.
• Provide technical and regulatory assistance to internal and external parties on PWS.
• Ensure PWS regulatory compliance and assist with enforcement actions.
• Prepare, review, and respond to correspondence and reports.
• Maintain current knowledge of PWS concepts, regulations, and tools.
