The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality invites applications for an Engineer I (NS) in the Public Water Supply Section of the Division of Water Resources. The role conducts field inspections, investigations, and assessments of drinking water facilities to ensure compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and state rules.

You will review plans, provide technical and regulatory guidance, and assist with enforcement actions while maintaining current knowledge of PWS requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Engineering students with anticipated graduation may be considered.
• Professional Engineer licensure is not required but is an asset.

Responsabilités

• Conduct PWS field inspections, investigations, assessments, evaluations, and audits.
• Ensure regulatory compliance; develop enforcement cases and coordinate actions.
• Review engineering plans and specifications; provide technical/regulatory guidance.
• Maintain knowledge of PWS concepts, rules, and regulations; assist training.
• Provide data entry, report preparation, and communications for diverse audiences.
