Job summary

SOUTHEAST ALABAMA REGIONAL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (SEARPDC) in Alabama is seeking a Bus Driver I to transport riders along assigned routes with daily pre-trip inspections and vehicle upkeep. You will collect fares, assist passengers, and operate wheelchair accessibility equipment, while maintaining logs and following schedules.

Under supervision, you will complete safety trainings, report incidents, and adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations for public transportation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing public transportation.
• Ability to read and interpret schedules, routes, and safety notices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for rider interactions.
• Basic numeracy to account for fares and logs.

Responsibilities

• Operate a transit vehicle on assigned routes following scheduled times.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and routine vehicle upkeep.
• Assist passengers entering and exiting, including wheelchair users; collect fares.
• Maintain daily logs, reports, and incidents; respond to rider inquiries and safety issues.
