Job description

Public Services Librarian Williamston Branch

Part-time, 25 hours per week. Includes evenings and weekends.

Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) provides library services to our communities seven days a week. All positions except those in Administrative Offices require some evening and weekend hours, including Sundays. This position is currently assigned to the Williamston Branch, but CADL may require employees to work at any location.

$28.91 per hour

Nature of Work

Under the supervision of a Branch Head, provides technology and reference assistance to patrons of all ages, with an emphasis on leadership in children’s programming and outreach to the public, schools, and community. Researches and recommends methods to increase cardholders through programming and outreach. Develops and provides youth programming, primarily for ages 0-11. Maintains assigned library collections; offers reader’s advisory, and provides one-on-one and group training for patrons and staff. Performs professional work in reader’s advisory, collection development, reference, acquisitions, or related fields. Preferably experienced with changing technology, mobile devices, and digital resources. May supervise support staff.

Plans and organizes library programs both inside and outside the library, with a special focus on children & family services, including storytimes.

Possession of a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.

Possession of a Michigan Librarian’s Professional Certificate.
