Job Description

The Iowa Department of Corrections-Central Office is seeking a highly motivated leader to manage the department’s Division of Investigative Services. This role provides leadership and oversight for all departmental investigations, institutional critical incident reviews, and the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).

This Public Service Manager 1 position supervises and manages the Division of Investigative Services, an independent bureau responsible for daily supervision and work evaluation of a team of four Investigator 3’s, statewide oversight of investigations, PREA coordination, and multi-agency collaboration. The position is based in Des Moines and is not eligible for remote work.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following:

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and four years of full-time experience in program administration, development, management, or operations.
• Eight years of full-time work experience in program administration, development, management, or operations.
• Four years of full-time experience in the relevant fields, plus a combination of education and experience where thirty semester hours equal one year of experience, or graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program.
• Two years of full-time experience in the relevant fields, plus a combination of graduate-level education and experience, where twenty-four semester hours in a public-service-related area equal one year of experience, or graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program.

Additionally, current, continuous experience in the state executive branch, including one year as a Public Service Supervisor or equivalent, is required.
