Job summary

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is seeking a Real Property Agent to oversee the processes for acquisition and leasing of real property needs. You will coordinate with the Procurement Director and obtain concurrence from the Commander’s Office.

Position requires knowledge of real property transactions, state/federal laws, and appraisal methods. The role involves evaluating needs, interpreting policies, and communicating with government and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of acquisition and disposition of real property.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State highway policies and procedures pertaining to right-of-way acquisition, removal of conflicts, and Federal participation in right-of-way costs.
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax laws as they apply to real estate transactions.
  • Knowledge of various appraisal methods.
  • Ability to write clear, concise documented reports.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of government, management and public.
  • Ability to interpret legal documents related to real estate transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the agency’s representative to the Council of State, safeguarding taxpayer resources by evaluating real property needs and monitoring program activities.
  • Interprets laws and policies for agency staff and vendors and conducts market research on real estate trends and property availability.
