Job summary

The City of Springfield Attorney's Office is seeking a Paralegal to join our legal team in the Prosecutor's Office. The Law Department represents the City in all legal matters including civil actions brought by or against the City.

Our paralegals support preparing, reviewing and summarizing legal documents, and conduct legal research for complex issues. Typing speed of 50 words per minute is mandatory and a typing test is required before interviews.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Legal Studies with at least 12 hours of legal course work such as civil trial procedures, legal research and writing, ethics and introduction to law
• Two years of paralegal experience required
• Bachelor's degree with listed course work and six months of litigation or transactional law experience

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing, reviewing and summarizing legal documents and contracts
• Conduct legal research involving advanced and complex issues
• Support in preparation of cases for nonjury and jury trials and other hearings
• Work autonomously in a litigation support role
