Job summary

Town of Marblehead seeks an experienced Director of Technology to lead all municipal IT operations, reporting to the Finance Director. You will guide enterprise IT, digital services, and cybersecurity while aligning initiatives with the town’s strategic plan.

The role oversees IT staff, collaborates with the vendor ecosystem, and ensures secure, reliable technology across departments from public safety to facilities. Master’s preferred; salary range noted below.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; master’s preferred.
• Seven to ten years of IT experience with at least five in a leadership role, preferably public sector.
• Certifications such as CISSP, PMP, ITIL, CISA, CRISC, CETL are a plus.
• CompTIA A+ and/or Network+ certification preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Barracuda, KnowBe4, Windows Server/AD; strong security focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision and leadership for town-wide IT strategy and infrastructure.
• Manage networks, fiber, servers, security systems, and software platforms.
• Establish and enforce cybersecurity protocols and disaster recovery plans.
• Serve as lead liaison to department heads, vendors, and external IT providers.
• Maintain inventory, plan replacements, and ensure software compliance.
• Support town-wide tech systems including Office365, cloud tools, and copiers.
• Supervise staff, manage training, and customer service delivery.
• Prepare and manage division operating and capital budgets.
• Attend Town Meetings to set up and run systems.
