Job summary

The Google Public Sector Forward Deployed Engineering (GPS FDE) team in Reston leads rapid delivery of production-grade AI solutions across federal and state environments. Engineers code, debug, and co-build bespoke agentic workflows with customers, navigating complex integration, data sovereignty, and security challenges within strict compliance frameworks.

Individual pay is determined by skills, experience and education.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development using Python or similar coding languages.
Experience building pipelines for structured and unstructured data using vector databases and RAG-like architectures.
Experience architecting AI systems on cloud platforms (GCP).
Experience leading technical discovery sessions with customers.
Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

Serve as a developer for complex AI applications, transitioning from prototypes to production-grade agentic workflows.
Architect and code the connective tissue between Google’s AI products and customer's live infrastructure.
Build high-performance evaluation pipelines and observability for agentic systems.
Identify repeatable field patterns and create reusable modules or product requests.
Co-build with Customer Engineering teams to enforce Google-grade development practices.
