Abdo LLP in Minnesota is seeking a Senior Associate to join our governmental consulting team. You will perform accounting and advisory work for city, county, and special district clients, including forecasting, budgeting, and audit prep.

This role emphasizes client collaboration, data-driven dashboards, and strategic guidance on complex government finance issues. Hybrid work is supported, with interviews via Zoom.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in public accounting or government/utility sectors.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and auditing standards.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel and financial analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Consult and communicate with client accounting & finance teams at all levels.
• Post day-to-day accounting transactions and review internal financials.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and period-end closes.
• Create financial statements and internal management reports.
• Provide dashboards, metrics, and analytical reporting for clients.
• Support budget and long-term planning processes.
• Assist with year-end close and audit work papers.
• Offer strategic guidance on accounting and financial management issues.
• Advise on industry insights and market dynamics for clients.
• Lead process evaluations, special projects, and technology implementations.
• Maintain records per guidelines; prepare sales/use tax returns.
• Coordinate assignments and provide training as needed.
• Leverage approved tech solutions and AI tools with professional judgement.
