Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) offers a summer internship in the Department of Finance. The program provides hands-on experience across finance operations, accounting, treasury, and procurement with rotations based on the student’s major.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree.
• Freshman year completed and entering sophomore year of college.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8; progress evaluated for each summer.
• Intern’s major should align with the assigned department’s requirements.

Responsibilities

• Compile, review, and analyze data; operate a computer to verify and input data for reports.
• Research data for management, operations, technical and administrative reports; use data to complete assignments.
• Produce reports, presentations, and data visuals for the assigned department.
• Attend training sessions and departmental meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Support multiple departments based on the student’s major and the department’s needs.
