Job summary

Massachusetts Technology Collaborative seeks a Controller to lead accounting operations and support the CFO in stewarding public funds. You will manage month-end and year-end closes, prepare financial statements, and guide budgeting, analysis, and program reporting across the agency.

The role requires overseeing internal controls, audit readiness, and cross-functional collaboration with program teams. A hybrid work arrangement is offered with office presence in Westborough, MA, two days per week.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of finance, accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting experience.
• Experience preparing financial statements and managing automated financial systems.
• Experience supervising staff and supporting cross‑functional financial initiatives.
• Experience developing, documenting, and implementing financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and processes.

Responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate the agency’s fiscal affairs with the CFO.
• Oversee general, project-based, grant, and federal funding accounting and reporting.
• Supervise staff responsible for journal entries, cash requirements, and analyses.
• Lead monthly and year-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
• Lead annual audits (financial, single, state) with documentation and responses.
• Coordinate annual budget development, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting.
• Monitor results against objectives and federal requirements; recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain and improve accounting systems, reporting software, and budgeting tools with IT and program teams.
• Prepare reports and materials for executive leadership, board, and committees.
• Support federal funding applications, drawdowns, and compliance monitoring.
