Job summary

City of Miami Beach in Florida is seeking a Budget Analyst for the Office of Management and Budget. You will assist in preparing and maintaining the city\'s operating and capital budgets, and provide budgetary analysis to the OMB Director and City Manager.

Responsibilities include developing guidelines for department budgets, reviewing expenditures, and performing comprehensive fiscal analysis across diverse areas; requires analytical rigor and strong communication with officials and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration is required.
• Experience in preparing budgets, management systems analysis, performance improvement reviews, or related analytical work is preferred.
• Experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of the Proposed and Adopted Budgets.
• Analyzes department budget requests and recommends approval/disapproval of line items to the City Manager.
• Prepares quarterly revenue and expenditure projections.
• Reviews City Commission agenda items for funding, for bid awards, and appropriation of funds.
• Maintains budgets in the City’s financial management system.
• Reviews and recommends approval of department vacancy requests.
• Performs research and analysis on budget/management issues.
