Job summary

Whitley Penn in Houston is seeking an Audit Associate for the Public Sector (Government/Not-for-Profit) team. You will participate in engagements, learn the firm’s audit process, and perform external audit procedures on financial statements and internal controls.

You will develop data analysis skills, communicate with clients, and manage your time to meet budgets. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required, CPA eligibility is preferred, with 1–2 years of audit experience expected.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of public accounting external audit experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be highly dedicated with a positive attitude and a team player who takes initiative.

Responsibilities

• Participate on projects and engagements to grow accounting and audit knowledge.
• Perform external audit procedures on financial statements and internal controls.
• Identify, measure, and analyze data for audit evidence.
• Learn to communicate with clients and gather information efficiently.
• Manage personal billable hours in relation to engagement budgets.
