Job summary

King William County is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our finance team, where your expertise will ensure financial accuracy and support strategic decision-making under general supervision. This role performs routine to complex accounting work, researches and prepares financial reports, and assists audits.

Responsibilities include processing journal entries, reconciling ledgers, monitoring payroll, receivables, payables, fixed assets, and preparing statutory filings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance or related field required or equivalent
  • 1–2 years accounting experience preferred
  • GAAP knowledge required or preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine to complex professional accounting work including research, analysis, preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports
  • Prepare journal entries to revenue and expenditures, reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts
  • Prepare payroll, receivables, payables, depreciation and other financial reports and filings; assist audits as appropriate
  • Assist in development and updating accounting systems and budget data; support internal and external auditors
