Job summary

Mapleton Public Schools in Denver, CO, seeks an experienced Accountant/Budget Analyst to support the district's financial operations. You will maintain the general ledger, oversee purchasing cards, cash receipting, and bank reconciliations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and state regulations.

The role partners with the Director of Business Services to guide budgeting and reporting across schools and departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting or finance preferred.
• At least 3 years' experience with governmental accounting or similar entity; school district accounting, budgeting, and analysis strongly preferred.
• Extensive experience and mastery of Excel functions including pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Review and monitors all assigned funds, school, and departments budgets, with special focus on budget variances and facilitating solutions.
• Create and maintain master position table within Infinite Visions, track changes (added or removed FTE by DAC) and ensure budgeted FTE per staffing sheets agrees to FTE allocations in position control table.
• Works with District CFO on district cash flow, banking services and investments of district funds in accordance with district policy and legal requirements.
• Responsible for overseeing and performing complex bank reconciliations across multiple funds and accounts, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records.
