The Prince William County Police Department is seeking a talented, customer-service oriented individual to provide day-to-day administrative and front desk support at our Central District Police Station.

About This Role:

As a Public Safety Technician this is your opportunity to further develop your customer service skills, increase proficiency in Microsoft Office and other secure data entry programs, and gain experience in a public service environment. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, detailed oriented, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task, successfully prioritize their workload, and work without direct supervision. Some of the job responsibilities include greeting visitors promptly and courteously, answering and routing incoming calls, mail distribution, data entry, filing, and other essential administrative tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or G.E.D.


Preferences:

  • Experience in providing customer service, including answering phones and walk-ins
  • Experience in records’ management, computer databases, and data entry.
  • Experience in a public sector or public safety environment
  • Experience with Livescan and NCIC / VCIN
  • Detail oriented and can communicate effectively.

Special Requirements:

All employees considered for hire by the Police Department are subject to a polygraph examination and a thorough background investigation.


Work Schedule:

The selected candidate will work out of the Central District Police Station. This is a full-time assignment, and the selected candidate must be able to work four, 10-hour days per week. They must be available to work weekends and weekdays, weekend shifts will alternate. The hours will be between 12:00 pm – 1:00 am.


Hiring Salary Range:

$27.35 - $32.17



Physical Requirements :

  • Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping,
  • feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
