Job summary

AlphaGov seeks a Public Safety / Sworn Compensation & Classification Specialist to lead sworn public-safety class/comp analysis across police, fire, and EMS pay plans. You will design peer sets, analyze rank structures and overtime patterns, and draft findings for reports and council briefings, collaborating with civilian class/comp leads on municipal studies.

This project-based role requires 5+ years in public-safety compensation and proven experience on completed studies involving sworn

• Direct experience on at least one completed study or major pay-plan redesign involving sworn employees
• Strong analytical and writing skills; ability to explain findings to non-HR leaders
• Ability to cite concrete past government projects (agency, role, year)

AlphaGov is seeking a Public Safety / Sworn Compensation & Classification Specialist for project-based engagements supporting municipal and county studies that include police, fire, EMS/paramedic, and related public-safety pay plans.

You will lead or co-lead the sworn/public-safety portions of classification and compensation studies — peer selection for public-safety markets, rank/step analysis, specialty pay, FLSA public-safety considerations, and compression between sworn and civilian structures. This role pairs with civilian class/comp leads on mid-to-large city studies.

What you’ll do:
