Job summary

Bexar County’s Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Security Monitor to protect facilities and people inside county buildings. The role focuses on screening entrants with metal detectors, monitoring cameras and alarms, and controlling access for staff, vendors, inmates, and officers.

You will also document activities and respond to security events with professionalism. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of public-facing experience, plus the ability to operate PCs

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; 2+ years public-facing experience.
• Knowledge of security practices and monitoring equipment.
• Ability to operate PC and two-way radio.

Responsibilities

• Screens entrants with metal detectors and x-ray scanners.
• Monitor surveillance equipment and alarms (two-way radios, TV cameras, fire/duress alarms).
• Control access to Justice Center doors for authorized personnel.
• Test alarm equipment and record results.
• Maintain logs of radio transmissions, prisoner movement and keys.
• Identify weapons/contraband and respond to incidents.
