Responsibilities

• Monitor visitors and assist with arrival/departure of guests.
• Patrol facility and grounds, monitor activity.
• Respond to fire drills and emergency codes.
• Manage agitated individuals using de-escalation techniques.
• Debrief with manager or security staff daily.
• Secure premises and monitor surveillance and access points.
• Support Emergency Management Plans and respond when needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of private information.
• Handle agitated or aggressive patients/visitors.
• Work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Attend staff meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

The Security Officer maintains safe and secure environment for medical staff/employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises and ensure that all hospital property is secure. Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned site. Preserves order and acts to enforce regulations when assistance is requested by medical employees.

The incumbent will carry-out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of Three Crosses Regional Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for monitoring visitors and assisting with the arrival and departure of guests.
• Patrol the facility and grounds, monitor all activity in and out of the hospital.
• Respond efficiently and effectively to fire drills, external and internal disasters and or drills, trauma alerts, emergency response codes etc.
• Manage verbal or physical aggressive situations without injury to patients and staff, using verbal intervention/de-escalation skills, remain calm, exercising judgement, and avoiding unnecessary physical force and abusive language.
• Debrief daily with your manager or other security personnel about what you have observed on your rounds.
• Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
• Will be part of the Emergency Management Plans Response teamand respond when necessary.
• Responsible for maintaining confidentiality and discretion when handling private information.
• Required to effectively manage agitated or aggressive patient or visitors.
• Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Attend staff meetings as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Required: High School Diploma
• Preferred:3 plus years’ experience in security, customer service or related field within hospital setting.
• Required: IC 100 & IC 200 certificate within 30 days of hire
• Required: International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety within 6 months of hire
• Requited: Valid Driver’s License
