The City of Seward is recruiting a Patrol Officer to enforce laws, protect life and property, and serve the public. You will patrol by vehicle, bike, or on foot, respond to calls, gather evidence, testify in court, and engage in community outreach.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 21+ years old, successful academy completion, and a valid driver’s license. Willingness to travel for training is required and shifts may include weekends.

Formación

• Knowledge of local ordinances, statutes and laws and their interpretation.
• Ability to prepare reports and records for the police department.
• Public relations and the ability to gain and keep public trust.
• Ability to diffuse violent situations and make good decisions under stress.
• Must meet Alaska Police Standards Council requirements.

Responsabilidades

• Deter crimes and maintain law and order through patrols in various modes.
• Respond to radio calls and incidents, inspect businesses, and assist the public.
• Engage in community relations and public safety education activities.
• Participate in training and maintain physical fitness as required.
• Provide effective customer service and support to the community.
