The City of Kalamazoo is seeking Public Safety Officers to patrol and respond to police, fire, and medical emergencies in the community. PSOs work 12-hour shifts and follow a 28-day rotation with 14 days on and 14 days off, including two weekends off per month.
Compensation starts with training wages, rising as they become fully trained and reaching the top of scale. Applicants must be 21 by May 27, 2027, possess good character, hold a valid driver’s license, be a U.S.

Applicants must be 21 years old by May 27, 2027, possess Character Fitness (good moral character), have a valid driver's license, be a U.S. Citizen, and meet all MCOLES licensing requirements. Must be available for full-time hire/start of training on January 19, 2027.
Minimum of High School Diploma; Associate or higher preferred, or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the functions of the job.
