Job summary

The City of Kalamazoo is seeking Public Safety Officers to patrol and respond to police, fire, and medical emergencies in the community. PSOs work 12-hour shifts and follow a 28-day rotation with 14 days on and 14 days off, including two weekends off per month.

Compensation starts with training wages, rising as they become fully trained and reaching the top of scale. Applicants must be 21 by May 27, 2027, possess good character, hold a valid driver’s license, be a U.S.

Qualifications

• Must have Character Fitness (good moral character).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and meet MCOLES licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas as a Public Safety Officer.
• Respond to calls for police, fire, and medical emergencies in a professional and caring manner.
