The Public Safety Officer Unarmed protects personnel and property within the INTEGRIS Health buildings and on all contiguous grounds. The role involves preventing criminal, destructive, or disruptive activity, correcting hazardous conditions, controlling traffic, providing public service to patients, visitors, and employees, and performing parking enforcement duties when directed. This position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate. INTEGRIS Health is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.

Responsibilities

The Public Safety Officer Unarmed responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring all property and facilities are secure, detecting and acting on unauthorized or illegal entry.
  • Controlling pedestrian and vehicle traffic, issuing citations, and conducting accident investigations as needed.
  • Providing public services such as motorist & patient assists and escorts to vehicles upon request.
  • Assisting with fire drills and inspecting the facility for hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Preparing written reports and documenting events accurately.
  • Providing assistance at the helicopter pad during landings and emergencies.
  • Completing special projects and assignments as designated by supervisors.
  • Ensuring compliance with employee regulations, policies, and procedures regarding security and safety.
  • Assisting clinical staff in restraining disruptive or violent patients.
  • Detaining criminal suspects for police when appropriate.

This position reports to the Public Safety Sergeant, Lieutenant, and the Public Safety Manager. It may involve additional physical demands or respiratory fit tests. The role includes interaction with potentially combative persons, participation in fire and bomb threat responses, and work in various environments, including hazardous chemical areas and all weather conditions. All applicants will be considered regardless of protected status, including veteran or disability status.

Qualifications
  • Preferably 12 college credit hours.
  • Certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety within 1 year of hire.
  • CLEET Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Preferably 1 year of private security or police experience.
  • Effective communication skills in English (verbal/written).
  • Post-hire psychological evaluation (MMPI or CPI) required for Taser weapon evaluation.
  • Valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
